Myra Cheung
Senior Advisor
Myra Cheung serves as the Senior Advisor for the Karen Leung Foundation, where she provides strategic and technical oversight on strategy development and programme design for the prevention of cervical cancer and HPV-related cancers. With her expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion policies, strategies, and interventions, Myra is passionate about capacity building and devising culturally sensitive, evidence-based strategies that enable communities to thrive physically, mentally, and spiritually. Over the past eight years, Myra has worked extensively in Cambodia, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Zambia. She has collaborated with a diverse range of stakeholders, including governmental, non-governmental, and intergovernmental organizations such as the Ministry of Health Singapore, Health Promotion Board Singapore, Ministry of Health Zambia, US FDA, UNICEF, and HKI Cambodia. Her work spans from upstream policy development to community-based interventions that drive behaviour change, improve health outcomes, and enhance quality of life. This diverse experience has equipped her with an expansive understanding of navigating complex public health landscapes and fostering multi-sectoral partnerships to achieve sustainable health outcomes and impact. In her current role as Senior Strategic Lead at the Centre for Innovative Service-Learning at Hong Kong Baptist University, Myra develops strategies to foster social impact among undergraduate service-learning courses by building partnerships between faculty and community organisations. Myra is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Community of Community Health Practitioners. She holds an MSc in Public Health (Health Promotion) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a BSc in Cell Biology and Genetics and Human Nutrition from the University of British Columbia, Canada.
