Healthy Longevity

KLF x PolyU School of Nursing: Bringing Women’s Health & Healthy Longevity to Your Neighbourhood 💜

What if a free health check, trusted cancer-prevention info, and a friendly nurse were just around the corner? That’s exactly what’s coming to communities across Hong Kong.

The Karen Leung Foundation (KLF) is teaming up with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Nursing on a bold mission: to put women’s health, prevention, and healthy longevity back into the hands of the people who need it most.

This isn’t your average health campaign. We’re combining real science with real connection — mixing hands-on health assessments, community screenings, HPV and cancer-prevention education, gamified learning, and cutting-edge social frailty screening. The result? A programme that doesn’t just hand out pamphlets — it sparks conversations, catches risks early, and empowers women with the knowledge and tools to take charge of their health.

🎉 Meet “Community Health Day: Health Checks & HPV Awareness”

A city-wide campaign coming to a community centre near you!

We’re rolling out the welcome mat for around 1,500 cohort members — plus walk-in community participants — at nurse-led outreach booths popping up across Hong Kong’s districts. Stop by and you’ll get:

  • ✅ Blood pressure check
  • ✅ Capillary blood glucose
  • ✅ BMI & body composition analysis (powered by Withings and Be All Concepts)
  • ✅ Friendly, judgement-free conversations about HPV, cancer screening, and how to stay ahead of the curve

Whether through one-on-one counselling, take-home guides, or online resources, participants leave knowing more about their bodies, their risks, and their next steps. The goal is simple: catch risks early, inspire healthier choices, and shape the future of primary care and cancer prevention in Hong Kong.

🤝 About the Partnership

KLF backs initiatives that move the needle on women’s health, prevention, and long-term wellbeing. By joining forces with PolyU, we’re blending world-class academic research with on-the-ground, nurse-led care — building something sustainable for Hong Kong’s rapidly ageing society.

🔍 What the Initiative Actually Does

📋 Smart Data, Real Insights
Quick questionnaires capture demographics, medical history, medications, and lifestyle habits — the building blocks for meaningful research.

🩺 Nurse-Led Community Health Checks
Health assessments delivered right in your neighbourhood.

💡 HPV & Cancer-Prevention Education
Through in-person chats, printed guides, online tools, and gamified learning, we make prevention information that sticks.

📱 Smart Body Scans & Health Indicators
Using smart tech from Withings and Be All Concepts, we assess body composition and vascular health — flagging possible signs of atrial fibrillation, early diabetes complications, and other hidden risks.

🤝 Social Frailty Screening
Meet the MSF-10 — a quick digital screener that detects early social vulnerability across resources, participation, connection, and self-management. Spot it early, and we can often reverse it before it becomes serious.

🔁 Thoughtful Follow-Up
We follow up to see if referrals were acted on, screenings completed, and results received — making sure no one falls through the cracks.

🌏 KLF’s Role in the Bigger Picture

KLF proudly supports the ” Second Wave of the Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Study: Objective Health Measures and Cancer Awareness Screening” project, led by Prof Jed Montayre (PI), Prof. ZHAO Yan (Co-I) and Prof. TAKEMURA Naomi (Co-I) — a cornerstone of our women’s health and healthy ageing strategy.

Through funding, tool validation, clinician training, public awareness, and pilot integration into primary care and social prescribing, KLF turns cutting-edge research into action people can feel in their daily lives. Social frailty is one of the most overlooked public health issues of our time — quietly chipping away at independence, wellbeing, and quality of life. We’re determined to change that.

❤️ Why It Matters

Health isn’t just biology — it’s connection, context, and access. By tackling biological, social, and preventive health together, we help people live longer, stronger, more independent lives.

Because everyone deserves a fair shot at a healthy future — and it should start right where you live.

Come say hi at a Community Health Day near you. Your future self will thank you.💜
