Since March, 2024, The Karen Leung Foundation is dedicated to reducing the burden of cervical cancer in Hong Kong through early detection and education. Despite the availability of screening, many women avoid it due to discomfort, embarrassment, or anxiety associated with traditional speculum examinations.
To address this challenge, we are proud to partner with the Faculty of Medicine at The Chinese University of Hong Kong to support a pioneering research initiative. This study integrates cervical cancer screening into routine antenatal care by offering non-invasive urine-based HPV tests to pregnant women. The goal is to evaluate the effectiveness of these alternative methods and identify strategies to increase participation in screening.
By exploring innovative, patient-friendly approaches, this research lays the groundwork for improving maternal healthcare and shaping long-term public health strategies for HPV management in pregnant populations.
