The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently approved the application of Gardasil 9 for men and women between aged 27 to 45. Previously, the FDA approved the use for individuals age 9 to 26.

The new approval is based on the result of a latest study. The study, covering 3,200 women aged 27 to 45, has proven that the vaccine is 88% effective in prevention of genital warts, vulvar and vaginal precancerous lesion, cervical precancerous lesions, and cervical cancer caused by the nine HPV strains.
