The Karen Leung Foundation is proud to present its 9th Annual Sohn Hong Kong Investment Leaders Conference in May 2021. Every year, the Sohn Hong Kong event supports the Foundation’s fight against gynaecological cancer by promoting research, education, prevention and optimal treatment in the field

To address travel and social gathering restrictions, again this year, Sohn Hong Kong will be presented on a live-streaming platform as part of the virtual SohnX initiative. As one of the most coveted events of the year, SohnX Hong Kong features the brightest minds of Asia’s leading investors, giving attendees unprecedented and valuable insights on markets and investment ideas. Keita Arisawa is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Seiga Asset Management, a Hong Kong-based fund manager with a pan-Asia fundamental equity long/short strategy. Prior to founding Seiga, Keita was the Asia Chief Investment Officer for TPG-Axon Capital based in Hong Kong, where he was responsible for all investments and portfolio risk management in Asia for the firm, in addition to managing the Hong Kong and Tokyo offices. Keita previously worked at Goldman Sachs in Tokyo, starting as an Investment Research Analyst and then joining the Principal Strategies Group as an Investment Manager, where he was responsible for investment analysis, trading and portfolio risk management.

Seth H. Fischer

Founder & Chief Investment Officer, Oasis Management

Seth H. Fischer is the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Oasis Management, an international investment manager that invests globally across capital structures. Mr. Fischer founded Oasis in 2002 following a successful seven-year career at Highbridge Capital Management, where he managed the firm’s Asian investment portfolio. Prior to joining Highbridge, Mr. Fischer served in the Israel Defense Forces. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Yeshiva University in 1993. He is a Board Member of the Karen Leung Foundation and the Carmel School in Hong Kong, and Vice Chairman of the Ohel Leah Synagogue Management Committee in Hong Kong.

Manoj Jain

Co-Founder & Co-Chief Investment Officer, Maso Capital

Manoj Jain is the co-founder of Maso Capital, an Asia focused multi-asset class investment firm focused on Event Driven investing and Convertible Bond Arbitrage. Prior to founding Maso, Mr. Jain spent nine years at Och-Ziff Capital Management Limited, where he was a Managing Director in the Hong Kong office. At Och-Ziff, Mr. Jain was focused on Asia merger arbitrage, event driven and capital markets. Prior to moving to Hong Kong, Mr. Jain was a generalist analyst focused on event driven and arbitrage at Och-Ziff in New York. Prior to Och-Ziff, Mr. Jain was an analyst in Mergers & Acquisitions at Credit Suisse First Boston in New York. Mr. Jain holds a M.A. in Management Studies from Cambridge University, U.K.

Rashmi Kwatra

Founder, Sixteenth Street Capital

Rashmi is the founder and CIO of Sixteenth Street Capital. While focused on public markets, Rashmi values investment opportunities as would a long-term private buyer. Prior to starting her own fund, she was the youngest Partner at Prince Street Capital Management, a long-standing Emerging and Frontier market fund. Rashmi was responsible for their investments in South and Southeast Asia. Rashmi holds a dual concentration in Finance and Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated magna cum laude. She is a Thai National, is now a Singapore Permanent Resident, and is of South Asian descent. Rashmi is fluent in English, Thai, Hindi, and Punjabi. She was named one of the 50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds in 2017 by the Hedge Fund Journal and is an honoree of Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

Michelle Leung

Chief Executive Officer & Founder, Xingtai Capital

Michelle Leung is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Xingtai Capital, an asset management firm managing Xingtai China, a long only China equity fund. She founded Xingtai Capital with the philosophy of investing in growth with a value overlay. Prior to Xingtai Capital, Michelle served as a Partner at Lunar Capital, a consumer-focused private equity fund. Prior to Lunar, Michelle served as COO and Executive Director of TOM Group (2383.HK), an associate of Hutchison Whampoa. Michelle also worked in Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs in New York and Hong Kong. Michelle holds a MBA from the Harvard Business School, a BSc(Econ) degree from the London School of Economics and an undergraduate diploma from Peking University.

Anand Madduri

Founder & Chief Investment Officer, ApaH Capital Management

Anand B. Madduri is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of ApaH Capital Management. ApaH manages an equity-centric, Pan Asian cross-asset strategy which invests opportunistically across public and private markets. Mr. Madduri has accumulated over 25 years of investment experience, more than 15 of which were spent investing across the Asia-Pacific region at Lone Star Funds, Och-Ziff Capital Management, and Morgan Stanley Investment Management. During his career, Mr. Madduri has deployed approximately $6 billion of capital across the region in both public and private markets. He received his MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and is both a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant. Mr. Madduri is fluent in both English and Hindi and he is an avid tennis player.

Amit Rajpal

Chief Executive Officer Asia & Portfolio Manager, Marshall Wace

Amit Rajpal is Chief Executive Officer of Marshall Wace Asia and as Portfolio Manager manages the Global Financial Services Strategy. He joined the firm in 2008 and was made partner in 2011 and serves of the Partnership Management Committee of the firm. Previously, Amit was Head of Proprietary Trading at Morgan Stanley Asia, having previously been Head of Global and Asian Financials Research -he was one of the youngest Managing Director at the age of 30. He is also the founder of Indian Fintech firm, Niyogin (NIYOGIN IN) where he serves as non-executive Chairman – he is passionate about the mission of creating an ecosystem for underserved micro businesses by leveraging technology, ground distribution and data partnerships especially in rural areas.

Rajesh Sachdeva

Founding Partner, Flowering Tree Investment Management

Rajesh Sachdeva founded FTIM ( Flowering Tree Investment Management Pte. Ltd.) in 2008, an Asian Equities focussed investment firm based in Singapore and manages the firm’s investment portfolio. From 2005 to 2008 he was a co-founder and partner at Sansar Capital, an Asian equity markets hedge fund adviser based in New York which at its peak managed in excess of $3 bn. For the first 11 years of his career, he focused on Asian investments both on the buy-side (as an investment analyst with Kingdon Capital and Alliance Capital) and on the sell-side, including as a director, Asian equity sales, for Citigroup Global Markets in New York. Rajesh received a post graduate degree in management from XLRI Institute of Management in 1993 (where he was a recipient of the Ram Awatar Chacha Gold Medal, awarded to the best student in Finance) and a BTech in mechanical engineering from IIT Delhi in 1991. Rajesh pursues a keen interest in Hindustani classical music and Bridge in his spare time. He is also an avid Jazz and Theater buff.

David Ingles

Anchor, Bloomberg Televison

David Ingles is an anchor for Bloomberg Television and Bloomberg Radio. He co-anchors “Bloomberg Markets: China Open” weekdays and concurrently also oversees markets and charts content for the Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Ingles provides coverage of the major macroeconomic stories and trends that shape markets and affect businesses in the Asia Pacific region. He also travels across the region to cover key stories and summits including Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, G20, and World Economic Forum where he’s interviewed some of the world’s top CEOs, political and economic leaders, tech entrepreneurs and investors. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Ingles was with CCTV News in Shanghai where he covered the Chinese financial markets and the country’s major economic reforms from the start of this decade. Before moving to the media industry, he spent several years in banking and financial services. Ingles earned his bachelor’s degree in business from the Ateneo de Manila University, and an MBA Degree in Finance from the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS). He is fluent in English, Tagalog and Mandarin.
