Dr. William Cheung is a seasoned biotech professional with a distinguished career spanning academia, industry, and public sector. He currently serves as the Deputy Chief Manager (Life and Health Technology) at the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES), where he plays a pivotal role in advancing Hong Kong’s strategic position in the life and health technology sector. With 10+ years industry expertise, William previously held the position of Senior Manager of Business Development at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP). During his tenure, he spearheaded initiatives that successfully attracted more than 100 biotech companies to establish operations in Hong Kong. Earlier in his career, he co-founded a clinical laboratory and an in vitro diagnostics startup, leading R&D efforts to launch innovative diagnostic tests for cancer and infectious diseases.
A scientist by training, William holds a BSc in Bioinformatics and PhD in Cancer Genetics from The University of Hong Kong. He completed his postdoctoral training at Yale School of Medicine, publishing extensively in top-tier journals such as Cancer Cell, with his research recognized by leading international cancer organizations.
