活動詳情

Emulating the SOHN London and SFO Women’s Breakfast this special invitation-only event will be held for the first time in Hong Kong preceding the SOHN HK Investment Leaders Conference. The event will bring together the female movers and shakers in Hong Kong for breakfast, with ample networking opportunities centered around an inspirational fireside chats.

With this event, we are hoping to close the gap between the typically male-dominated main event and allow more female leaders and new talents to learn about the Karen Leung Foundation and our mission, over a series of case studies that will shed light on the most innovative diagnostics tools in the market for disease detection, prevention and care in the HK market.

Alia Rahman

Founder & CEO, Amplexd Therapeutics

Alia Rahman is founder of Amplexd Therapeutics, an early-stage biotech company that has developed two novel, non-invasive treatments for HPV-induced cervical dysplasia, the precursor to cervical cancer. In 2007, Alia was herself diagnosed with the late-stage, high-grade cervical dysplasia. After undergoing a traumatic surgery, Alia continued to live with low-grade dysplasia. A decade later, another flare up to high-grade motivated her to develop an effective topical treatment in order to avoid further surgeries. In her kitchen, she combined two APIs and treated her own lesions, resulting in the first normal screening in over a decade. This finding formed the basis of Amplexd. Within six months, Amplexd had developed and patented two treatments: an intravaginal suppository and photodynamic therapy system as alternatives to “watch and wait” and invasive surgery, addressing all stages of dysplasia. Alia’s hopes are two-fold: to make non-invasive, low-cost treatments readily accessible to women all over the globe where screening and treatment options are scarce; and secondly, to see non-invasive therapies become the norm in HPV-care and gynecology more broadly. Alia holds a BASc in Engineering from the University of Waterloo and currently resides in Montreal, Canada. Alia is a multi-time medtech founder.
