Dr. Sarah Borwein
Board Member
Dr Sarah Borwein is a Canadian physician who has lived and worked in Hong Kong and Beijing for more than 23 years. She worked as a staff physician at the Beijing United Family Hospital where she was Director of Infection Control during the SARS outbreak in 2003. After returning to Hong Kong, she became a founding partner in 2005 of what is now a large multi-disciplinary medical group, where she practiced until 2021.
Although she practices across the full family medicine spectrum, her special interests include women’s health, preventive medicine, travel & tropical medicine, infectious diseases and mental health.
In addition to patient care, she has been involved with infectious disease surveillance both globally and locally through GeoSentinel (a worldwide communication and data collection network for the surveillance of travel-related morbidity), the Travax International Partner program, and the Hong Kong Department of Health. She is a past president of the Asia Pacific Travel Health Society.
Having first-hand experience in the SARS epidemic in Beijing in 2003, and the COVID-19 epidemic in Hong Kong in 2020-2021, Sarah has spoken, advised, and written extensively about the pandemic.
She looks after a significant refugee population, is medical advisor to Outward Bound HK and to the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong. Her community involvements include sitting on the Executive Committees of the United Jewish Congregation of Hong Kong and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. She is a council member of the Licentiate Medical Society of Hong Kong, an organisation that represents doctors trained outside of Hong Kong.
Sarah graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine in 1999 and then obtained Fellowship in Family Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada, as well as an MSc in Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She successfully recertified as a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Hong Kong in 2005. She is married and has three grown children; she enjoys hiking, Pilates and yoga and used to love to travel.

Clara Chan
Board Member
Ms Chan was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Investment Corporation Limited in October 2023. She is a barrister admitted by the High Court of Hong Kong. She was the Executive Director (Monetary Management) of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority from 2020 to 2023, and Chief Investment Officer (Private Markets) of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority before then. She was an Administrative Officer in the Hong Kong SAR Government from 2004 to 2010, covering areas including home affairs, transport and financial services.
Ms Chan is the co-chair of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on Responsible Investing, a Council member of Lingnan University and a Board member of Karen Leung Foundation dedicated to work relating to gynaecological cancers. She received the Asia Industry Leadership Award of the 100 Women in Finance in 2016. She was also on the global list of 40 under 40 named by the Private Equity International.
Ms Chan is an advocate for diversity and ESG awareness in the finance industry, and has been a frequent speaker on relevant topics.

Seth Fischer
Board Director & Co-Founder
Seth is a co-founder and Board member of the Karen Leung Foundation. He is also the founder and Chief Investment Officer at Oasis Management, where Karen worked as a trader in both the Tokyo and Hong Kong offices. Based in Hong Kong, Seth offers leadership in the day-to-day development of the organization in all areas. He holds a BA in Political Science from Yeshiva University in New York.
Driven by a strong interest in the community, Seth has served in the Israel Defense Forces and currently serves as a Board Member of Carmel School in Hong Kong, and Vice Chairman of the Ohel Leah Synagogue Management Committee. Seth lives with his wife, Nealy, and four children in Hong Kong.

Connie Heng
Board Director
Connie Heng joined the Board of the Karen Leung Foundation in 2017 to help further the Foundation's cause and honour her friend Karen Leung. Connie is Regional Managing Partner in Asia Pacific for international law firm Clifford Chance and a member of the firm's Global Executive Leadership Group. During her 20-plus year career, she has helped many Hong Kong and Chinese issuers with their securities offerings in the international debt capital markets and has advised on many landmark transactions. Connie is an active supporter of inclusion and gender issues, founding the firm's first women's network in the region. She holds a BA in Law from the National University of Singapore and lives in Hong Kong with her husband and two young daughters.

Waqas Khatri
Board Director & Co-Founder
Waqas is the co-founder of the Karen Leung Foundation. Waqas and Karen were married in January 2012 after several happy years together in Hong Kong. Given his journey with Karen before and during her battle with cervical cancer, he feels compelled to honour her wishes and ensure that other women have the opportunity to prevent cancer or detect it earlier.
Waqas brings vision, passion and leadership to the Foundation. He holds a BA in Computer Science and Economics from Vassar College. Waqas is the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Ayrton Capital. He lives in New York City.

Myra Cheung
Senior Advisor
Myra Cheung serves as the Senior Advisor for the Karen Leung Foundation, where she provides strategic and technical oversight on strategy development and programme design for the prevention of cervical cancer and HPV-related cancers. With her expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion policies, strategies, and interventions, Myra is passionate about capacity building and devising culturally sensitive, evidence-based strategies that enable communities to thrive physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Over the past eight years, Myra has worked extensively in Cambodia, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Zambia. She has collaborated with a diverse range of stakeholders, including governmental, non-governmental, and intergovernmental organizations such as the Ministry of Health Singapore, Health Promotion Board Singapore, Ministry of Health Zambia, US FDA, UNICEF, and HKI Cambodia. Her work spans from upstream policy development to community-based interventions that drive behaviour change, improve health outcomes, and enhance quality of life. This diverse experience has equipped her with an expansive understanding of navigating complex public health landscapes and fostering multi-sectoral partnerships to achieve sustainable health outcomes and impact.
In her current role as Senior Strategic Lead at the Centre for Innovative Service-Learning at Hong Kong Baptist University, Myra develops strategies to foster social impact among undergraduate service-learning courses by building partnerships between faculty and community organisations.
Myra is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Community of Community Health Practitioners. She holds an MSc in Public Health (Health Promotion) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a BSc in Cell Biology and Genetics and Human Nutrition from the University of British Columbia, Canada.

Sangeeta Dale
Clinicial Project Manager
Sangeeta Dale, has been appointed as a Clinical Project Manager in July 2024 to run and supervise KLF’s first ever internally run virtual cancer survivor rehabilitation project.
Sangeeta has extensive international experience leading non-profit, clinical and commercial organisations, creating authentic relationships and driving impact and results, across various functions. She Is motivated and thrives on front-line work, be that grassroots supporting communities in need, or delivering clinical training in surgical environments.
Sangeeta's aspirations focus on both profit and purpose. She is passionate to share her expertise and make a meaningful contribution, whilst being committed to social and environmental responsibilities alongside financial measures to deliver goals. She is keen to deploy her vast network to realise KLF’s project needs.
Sangeeta loves trees and nature. With an eclectic music collection and a love for photographing street art, she’s often found exploring the world and taking paths less travelled. Sangeeta is based between the UK and HK and speaks five languages.

Pat Kwok
Office Manager & Personal Assistant to Executive Director
Pat joined the Karen Leung Foundation since Oct 2022. She has a strong background in administrative and HR management and has supported several charitable and commercial organizations in past years. She proactively manages the day-to-day office operations at KLF and her in-depth work experiences allows her to work in fast-paced environments and she is always ready to take on a new challenge.
Pat holds a BBA from the Hong Kong Metropolitan University and has a proven track record of building positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. She is a good team player who is always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.

Katharina Reimer
Executive Director
Miss Katharina Reimer is the Executive Director of the Karen Leung Foundation (“KLF”), a Hong Kong based registered charity which works to save lives in Asia by raising awareness of gynaecological cancers, educating women to increase rates of early detection and ensuring that women in treatment have access to optimal medical care. Miss Reimer leads all aspects of the Foundation’s strategy & development, fund-raising and operations. She is also a Founding member of the APAC HPV Coalition, a think tank which aims to advance the awareness, prevention and treatment of HPV-related disease.
Katharina is a passionate advocate for social change and has been heavily involved in supporting several charities and philanthropic causes across Asia and acted as strategic media advisor to a number of public sector organizations in the Middle East and Africa in the earlier parts of her career. Since arriving in Hong Kong in 2004, she has led & supported initiatives and charities that foster positive social change to advance female empowerment such as 100Women in Finance and Asian University for Women HK Foundation amongst others.
Katharina holds a Bachelor degree from the University of West of England (Bristol, England) and a Master in Economics from the Berlin School of Economics and Law. She has lived in over 20 countries and is fluent in three languages. She currently lives with her husband and their two children in Hong Kong.
