Clara Chan

Board Member

Clara Chan is currently the Executive Director for the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) in charge of maintenance of financial and monetary stability of Hong Kong. She has also led the HKMA’s investment activities in private markets as Chief Investment Officer. Before joining the HKMA, Clara was an Administrative Officer in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and involved in an array of policies and projects covering home affairs, transport, and financial services. 

Clara is a barrister admitted by the High Court of the HKSAR. She was on the global list of 40 under 40 named by the Private Equity International and the list of Asia’s 20 Influential Executives named by The Asia Investor in 2020, and received the Asia Industry Leadership Award of the 100 Women in Finance in 2016. She is currently the co-chair of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on Responsible Investing, an advisor of the Global East Government Funds Roundtable, a Council member of Lingnan University, and a member of the Board of Directors of Karen Leung Foundation.

Clara is an advocate for diversity and ESG awareness and development in the finance industry, and speaks frequently on these topics.

Seth Fischer

Board Director & Co-Founder

Seth is a co-founder and Board member of the Karen Leung Foundation. He is also the founder and Chief Investment Officer at Oasis Management, where Karen worked as a trader in both the Tokyo and Hong Kong offices. Based in Hong Kong, Seth offers leadership in the day-to-day development of the organization in all areas. He holds a BA in Political Science from Yeshiva University in New York.

Driven by a strong interest in the community, Seth has served in the Israel Defense Forces and currently serves as a Board Member of Carmel School in Hong Kong, and Vice Chairman of the Ohel Leah Synagogue Management Committee. Seth lives with his wife, Nealy, and four children in Hong Kong.

Connie Heng

Board Director

Connie Heng joined the Board of the Karen Leung Foundation in 2017 to help further the Foundation's cause and honour her friend Karen Leung. Connie is Regional Managing Partner in Asia Pacific for international law firm Clifford Chance and a member of the firm's Global Executive Leadership Group. During her 20-plus year career, she has helped many Hong Kong and Chinese issuers with their securities offerings in the international debt capital markets and has advised on many landmark transactions. Connie is an active supporter of inclusion and gender issues, founding the firm's first women's network in the region. She holds a BA in Law from the National University of Singapore and lives in Hong Kong with her husband and two young daughters.

Waqas Khatri

Board Director & Co-Founder

Waqas is the co-founder of the Karen Leung Foundation. Waqas and Karen were married in January 2012 after several happy years together in Hong Kong. Given his journey with Karen before and during her battle with cervical cancer, he feels compelled to honour her wishes and ensure that other women have the opportunity to prevent cancer or detect it earlier.

Waqas brings vision, passion and leadership to the Foundation. He holds a BA in Computer Science and Economics from Vassar College. Waqas is the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Ayrton Capital. He lives in New York City.

Dr. Shahani Amjah

Program Manager

Dr. Shahani Amjah is a medical practitioner and health coach working in Sri Lanka and Hong Kong. She completed her degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, following which she practiced in both pediatrics and women’s health. She is passionate about holistic wellness and received her Certificate in Health Coaching, and is involved in community health services. Joining Karen Leung Foundation as Program Manager, she shares her expertise in women’s health and will be an active participant in raising awareness of gynecological cancers and being part of the Foundation's ongoing programs.

Irene Chan

Social Media Coordinator

Irene has in-depth experience in digital marketing and branding, including marketing strategy development, implementation of plans and data analyzing of the campaigns across different digital channels. She is passionate about her work in raising brand awareness and building trust with the audiences through valuable contents. Joining the Karen Leung Foundation team in October 2022, she aims to create more compelling content and help the Foundation thrive in relevant online communities. 
Irene is currently based in Hong Kong. Her familiarity with the HK culture allows her to get close to local online communities as well as promoting KLF's ongoing campaigns.

Pat Kwok

Personal Assistant and Office Manager

Pat joined the Karen Leung Foundation since Oct 2022.  She has a strong background in administrative and HR management and has supported several charitable and commercial organizations in past years.  She proactively manages the day-to-day office operations at KLF and her in-depth work experiences allows her to work in fast-paced environments and she is always ready to take on a new challenge. 
 
Pat holds a BBA from the Hong Kong Metropolitan University and has a proven track record of building positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.  She is a good team player who is always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.

Katharina Reimer

Executive Director

Mrs. Reimer is the Executive Director of the Karen Leung Foundation (“KLF”) and leads all aspects of the Foundation’s operations, fundraising, and development. Additionally, she holds several board advisory roles. Prior to her current remits, Katharina led marketing & communications teams in APAC and acted as strategic media advisor to a number of public sector organizations in the Middle East and Africa. 

Katharina is a passionate advocate for social change and has been heavily involved in supporting several local charities and philanthropic causes in Hong Kong. Since arriving in Hong Kong in 2004, she has worked with the Sedan Chair Charity Fund, the Hong Kong Cancer, the Hong Kong Award for Young People and City Kids Hong Kong Preschool amongst others.

Katharina is also a Founding member of the APAC HPV Collation, a think tank which aims to advance the awareness, prevention and treatment of HPV-related disease. Katharina holds a Bachelor degree from the University of West of England (Bristol, England) and a Master in Economics from the Berlin School of Economics and Law. She has lived in over 20 countries and is fluent in three languages. She currently lives with her husband and their two children in Hong Kong.

Sabrina Tang

Research Associate

Sabrina serves as Research Associate for KLF. She completed her undergraduate degree in science, majoring in biology at the University of Toronto and is currently undergoing a Master’s in Public Health under the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong. Sabrina is interested in the prevention of infectious disease and wants to put words into action by helping to provide positive outcomes to the Foundation. During her internship Sabrina is tasked to provide a local and regional gap analysis around our cause and evaluate the effectiveness of the current programs.
