About the event

The Karen Leung Foundation is proud to present its annual Sohn Hong Kong Investment Leaders Conference. The conference brings together Asia’s leading investors to support the fight against gynaecological and pediatric cancers by promoting research, education, prevention and optimal treatment.

The Sohn Conference Hong Kong, in partnership with the globally recognized Sohn Conference Foundation, is a must-attend event in Asia providing a forum for successful professional investors to present a market view or investment idea, allowing attendees such as sell and buy-side investment professionals, asset allocators, and private investors to gain valuable insights from leaders in the field.

The Next Wave program component gives the next generation of emerging managers a forum to present their investment ideas in the same format as the main Sohn event.

The half-day conference will have a great line-up of investment speakers, all experienced and successful investors who each will present a single investment idea or a market view to the Hong Kong audience.

All proceeds from the conference will go to support both the Sohn Conference Foundation’s and Karen Leung Foundation’s missions.

Toby Rodes

Founder & CIO, Kaname Capital

Toby Rodes founded Kaname Capital in 2018 to bring deep fundamental analysis and engaged ownership to Japanese small caps, a deep pool of operationally capable companies with strong product focus that too frequently suffer a material valuation discount because of substandard governance practices. Passive and conflicted "allegiant" shareholders have simply refused to hold boards accountable for delivering on their potential ROE, a core reason for Japan's multi decade economic malaise. Kaname aspires to be a thoughtful, involved, and long-term "principal" owner of quality businesses with substantial valuation rerating potential. Toby previously spent 12 years at Boston based institutional manager GMO, where he managed roughly $4bn in both large and small cap equities in Japan.
