The conference welcomed over 350 guests including sell and buy-side investment professionals, asset allocators and private investors across Asia. The speakers covered a variety of long and short investment ideas including stock tips from the consumer, technology and social media industries. Highlights include:
- Ethan Devine of Indus Capital and Seth Fischer of Oasis Management again this year pitched ideas in Japan. Both presentations covered technology stocks and why they are a good buy
- Eashwar Krishnan of Tybourne Capital discussed the reasons why he thinks Royce-Rolls is an attractive investment at present

- The conference also saw Martin Wheatley, former CEO of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong opening the event, where he reflected on his experience with regulations and short selling
The conference was hugely successful with over HK$3.2 million raised. All proceeds will go to support both the Sohn Conference Foundation and Karen Leung Foundation’s missions.
In addition, the Karen Leung Foundation launched its “Mother and Daughter Project” campaign, aimed at continuing its school-based vaccination program in Hong Kong by adding free screening for the girls’ mothers. The program looks to address the unmet needs of the Hong Kong community by providing education on cervical cancer prevention and free HPV vaccines for girls from middle to low-income families at local schools.
With the money raised, the Karen Leung Foundation aims to work with all schools on the waitlist and add up to 20 more schools over the course of the next 18 months.

About the Karen Leung Foundation:
Karen Leung Foundation’s mission is to save lives by reducing the impact of gynaecological cancer. The Karen Leung Foundation works to raise awareness about gynaecological cancers, educate the local community to promote prevention and early detection, and ensure that women in treatment have access to optimal medical care. To achieve our objectives, the Karen Leung Foundation collaborates with the local and international medical community, as well as other NGO’s committed to improving women’s health.
KLF was created by Karen’s loved ones to honour her life and fulfil her hopes for a better future for women, free from gynaecological cancer. Karen was 34 years old, newly engaged to be married, and had a promising career as an equity and derivatives trader at Oasis Hong Kong, when she was diagnosed with metastatic cervical cancer in November 2011 after experiencing symptoms of back pain and fatigue. The diagnosis was shocking and she fought courageously for nearly a year before passing away in October 2012, at 35 years old. In the days before she died, Karen expressed her wish to raise awareness among Hong Kong women and girls about gynaecological cancer to ensure that others have the information and resources to prevent cancer and access to the best medical care, if needed.
