Hong Kong, 7 May 2024: Roche Diagnostics today launched a new women’s health awareness campaign, “Women’s Check-Up Week”, to empower women in Hong Kong to take action and control of their own health.

Cervical cancer is the 7th most common cancer among women in Hong Kong and yet only 52% of Hong Kong women have ever had a cervical cancer screening. The four key barriers that hold women back from undergoing screening include gaps in awareness and support, fear, undervaluation of women's health, and lack of time. Therefore, it is important to reduce barriers and intensify efforts to ensure women have the right information and feel supported when it comes to their health.

The Karen Leung Foundation has partnered with Roche Diagnostics (Hong Kong) Limited to launch this first-of-its-kind Women’s Check Up Week in Hong Kong to coincide with Mother’s Day on Sunday, 12th May 2024. The Foundation will contribute to the promotion and support of cervical cancer screening for underprivileged women.

By encouraging conversations on the importance of cervical testing it is hoped that stigmas, barriers, and shame can be reduced. This campaign will inspire women and emphasize the significance of fostering a culture of self-care, where women's health is celebrated and encouraged.
