Facing and overcoming cancer is one of the biggest triumphs one can experience, but for many survivors, the fight doesn't end there. With regards to many gynaecological cancer survivors, difficulties relating to sexuality, intimacy, and overall mental health are not uncommon.
From October 2018 to March 2019, we conducted 13 interviews with 17 individuals in the form of individual face-to-face interviews and mini focus groups. According to both quantitative and qualitative research from women, caregivers, NGOs and physicians, numerous health rehabilitation programmes fail to bridge the gap between physiological and psychological obstacles that many recovering patients experience. Hence, here at KLF, we aim to establish a centre-based rehabilitation service that will provide sexual rehabilitation services and counselling to gynaecological cancer survivors, their loved ones, and caregivers.
