On the back of Helper Appreciation Month (July), the Karen Leung Foundation is launching a new screening initiative addressing the low cervical screening rates among Foreign Domestic Workers (FDW) in Hong Kong. Although domestic workers play such an important role in Hong Kong’s society, only very few are aware of the threat of cervical cancer and attend routine screenings.

The captioned summer program features the innovative self-collection method for cervical screening and is conducted by the females themselves rather than a medical professional, to address common uptake barriers such as embarrassment and cultural stigma. The KLF service will be available on Sundays across the month of August and aims to increase the awareness of cervical screening as well as offer test access to domestic helpers in Hong Kong.  

Participation criteria：

Aged 30-64

Hong Kong registered foreign domestic helper (with Hong Kong ID)

Have never been screened before (Pap Smear or HPV DNA test)

Completed online registration

Time: August 11, 2019 (Sun)

AM session: 11:00 am to 12:30 pm

PM Session:   2:00 pm to 3:30 pm
