KLF’s successful school-based HPV vaccination project demonstrated a high uptake rate of over 80%, which is comparable to other countries where the vaccine is publicly funded. This project provided low-income Hong Kong families with free access to the lifesaving vaccine for young girls, and in 2018/19 school year, we had also offered free cervical cancer screening for mothers.
With this project, the Karen Leung Foundation aims to make an inter-generational impact and protect both girls and their mothers from cervical cancer by providing them with the knowledge needed to take care of their gynaecological health and access to medical care.
